Medi-Cal (Medicaid) is Californias health insurance program designed for children and adults with limited income.
Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) accepts a range of payment and insurance plans, including Medi-Cal. In addition, all FHCSD clinics operate on a sliding fee scale. This means the cost of services is based upon income and family size. No patient will be turned away based on their inability to pay. Our staff will help patients enroll in free or low-cost plans that can help cover the cost of treatment and services.

Downtown Family Health Center operates under a sliding fee scale payment model. What this means to you is that Downtown Family Health Center provides their services even to patients who cannot afford care (such as low-income or who people who need to self-pay). Patients will pay according to their income. Be prepared to provide information on your household income.

All state Medicaid programs provide some mental health services. Downtown Family Health Center accepts Medicaid, a joint federal and state program that helps with medical costs for some people with low incomes and limited resources. Medicaid programs vary from state to state.
Obamacare purchased from the Health Care Marketplaces covers Mental Health Care and Substance Use Disorder Treatment. Under the Health Care Law there are 10 categories of benefits. Mental Health Care and Substance Abuse Treatment are two of the 10.
If you have Affordable Care Act Coverage you will have mental health care coverage.
