This company was formed as a non-profit clinic in the health department with the responsibility to offer health care to the "under-served" of their community. Recognizing that this population (the uninsured, Medicaid and low-income Medicare) has many special needs, the GFHS program has evolved into a much more comprehensive care provider than the typical practice of family medicine. In addition to traditional primary care (maintenance of health and treatment of acute and chronic diseases) provided by mid-level physicians and providers, the GFHS also provides behavioral and mental counselling, pharmacy services, education program for chronic diseases (diabetes, asthma and weight loss), medication counselling, nutritional counselling and a drug care program, as well as case management programs.
